Banyuwangi, 14 November 2024 – A successful collaboration between the Yayasan Pendidikan Adiluhung Nusantara (YPAN), the Banyuwangi Regency Government, and the Association of All Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) has culminated in the Mini English Camp “Ant System.” This initiative has been implemented in five selected schools across Banyuwangi. Taking place over four days, from November 11 to 14, 2024, at the Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center, the camp aims to enhance teachers’ skills in English instruction and foster a supportive English learning environment for students.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Suratno, S.Pd, M.M., the Head of the Banyuwangi Education Office, who remarked, “The introduction of the ‘Ant System’ method is expected to create a conducive ecosystem that continuously motivates and encourages students to improve their English proficiency in schools.”
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Fais Bayu Wicaksono, the Chairman of YPAN Banyuwangi, emphasized the significance of mastering English in today’s globalized world. “English is the gateway to opportunities on an international scale. Therefore, through the ‘Ant System,’ we aim to provide creative, innovative, and easily applicable English learning experiences in schools,” he stated.
Ant System: Cultivating Active English Usage in Schools
The “Ant System” method is a dynamic approach to English language learning that focuses on using the language in engaging and practical contexts. During the four-day camp, participants engaged in various activities, including a Training of Trainers (TOT) session, where they were equipped to become trainers in the “Ant System” method, enabling them to instruct other teachers in their respective schools. This was followed by a socialization of the Ant System Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), introducing participants to the guidelines for implementing the method. The program also included discussions and practical applications where participants shared strategies for applying the “Ant System” in their schools and formulated action plans.
With the implementation of the Mini English Camp “Ant System,” it is hoped that the quality of English education in Banyuwangi will see significant improvement. The trained teachers are expected to serve as role models, inspiring their colleagues to create an English-speaking environment in their schools.
YPAN remains committed to enhancing the quality and equity of education across Indonesia through specialized training programs. By collaborating with various stakeholders, including local government entities, YPAN strives to establish a conducive learning ecosystem nationwide, aspiring to nurture a generation of Indonesians ready to tackle global challenges.
